class of 2026 senior spotlight haley johnson. MY Favorite HS Memory Resilience: High school is full of small "failures" a bad grade, a lost game, or a social fallout. Learning to bounce back from those moments is a muscle you’ll use for the rest of your life. the #1 Skill I'm Taking with Me Advice for Future Seniors my Plans after Graduation Homecoming was my favorite memory because the entire school’s energy finally felt perfectly in sync. Between the adrenaline of the game and the magic of the dance, The dress up days and memories. it was a rare moment where we could just be carefree teenagers. Those nights weren't just about the event, but the unforgettable sense of belonging shared with my best friends. This is your final year to be a student among the people you grew up with, so don't let the fear of embarrassment hold you back from the "last of many" milestones. Take the chance to join that club, talk to that classmate, or cheer a little too loud at the game, because these windows of opportunity are closing fast. Make sure your final chapters are defined by the risks you took rather than the moments you let slip away in silence. Attending Twin City Beauty college (cosmetology)

Hartford Public Schools is pleased to announce this year's winners of the Educational Hero Awards: Middle School Math Teacher Lindsay Blackmer and Middle School Secretary Nora Aguirre.

The Educational Hero Awards Banquet was held on Tuesday at the Van Buren Intermediate School District, where Blackmer and Aguirre were both recognized and presented with their awards.
Education Heroes from the other Van Buren County school districts were also recognized.

Nora Aguirre - She was selected for her commitment to HPS, extraordinary work ethic, and value she brings to the entire district. She has been the glue that has held the office together through several administrative changes, is the first person people see when entering the building and is the only building secretary that works solo. She is also highly respected among all other secretaries and building admin regarding her collaboration among the buildings.

Lindsay Blackmer - Middle School Principal, Darren Tyria, pointed out how Lindsay does before school tutoring, is on the building leadership team, gives up her planning to work the success center, does lunch detention and also coaches three sports. Most recently, Blackmer coached varsity girls basketball when we did not have many applicants. She has also been with the district for nearly 22 years.

At Hartford Public Schools, we are proud to have such great candidates, employees and winners of the award.

This week's HMS Staff Spotlights are Mr. Cammire, Dr. Ross and Lindsay Blackmer!

Mr. Cammire is our 6th grade ELA teacher. He is dedicated to his students and brings movement and engaging activities into his teaching. This month he is helping organize March Reading Month along with our other ELA teachers. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Cammire.

Dr. Ross is our amazing ESL teacher. Recently, she has been working with our middle school students on WIDA testing. She brings a smile to our building everyday she comes in. Students look up to her and enjoy conversation with her. Thank you, Dr. Ross for all you do for HMS.

Mrs. Blackmer is a 6th grade math teacher here at HMS. She goes above and beyond for students at Hartford. If she is not in her classroom teaching, you can find her coaching high school basketball, tutoring before school, or coaching middle school track. Her dedication and hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you, Mrs. Blackmer, for all that you do.
