Yesterday, February 17th, 2022, interviews were held for the Board of Education opening. The board had five candidates: Joe Deckard, Melissa Galvan, Phil Lucas, Marilyn Mead, and Lee Mireles. The Board of Education would like to thank the candidates for their time and interest. Congratulations, Melissa Galvan, as she was appointed to serve as Trustee to the Board of Education until the next school election. Melissa graduated from Hartford High School in 2002 and is also a graduate from Michigan State University with a master's degree in Social Work. She is currently in the role of Mental Health Clinician at the Van Buren Intermediate School District and is placed at the Hartford Middle School and Hartford High School in this role. She resides in Hartford with her husband Steve Galvan and four children (Jaelyne, Gianni, Nico, and Mila). Melissa enjoys working with youth and families and truly believe in the power of connections, partnering, and building relationships. She is honored to be selected as the next school board member and looks forward to serving the community and district. Welcome, Melissa!
