Class of 2022 Hartford High School Alumni, Kaden Johnson has signed with Eastern Michigan University on a basketball scholarship to play his final year of college.

Kaden began his collegiate career at Goshen College before transferring to Huntington University, where he put together a phenomenal season. He earned First Team All-Conference honors, was named Defensive Player of the Year, and achieved NAIA All-American recognition. Kaden graduates from Huntington on May 2nd and will play his graduate year at Eastern.

For Kaden, this move to Division I is about more than basketball—it’s a testament to years of hard work, perseverance, and belief. His journey shows that talent can rise from anywhere, no matter how small the starting point.

Varsity Softball vs Lawrence Results (4/23/26):
Hartford beat Lawrence 16-0 and 21-0 Thursday. Both games only went three innings.
Game one Kinsley Kronewetter got the win on the mound. She gave up one hit and zero runs while striking out seven and walking one.
Kenzie Mireles had 5 RBIs on three hits- A triple, a double and an in the park homerun.
Cate Morsaw had a single and double with 2 RBIs

Aliyah Burrows with a single scoring one run.

Wimbley Leads Hartford Varsity Huskies Past Lawrence Varsity Tigers in Game 1.

Tim Wimbley struck out 10 batters as the righty led Hartford Varsity Huskies past Lawrence Varsity Tigers 9-2 on Thursday. Tim Wimbley gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings while walking one.
Hartford Varsity Huskies collected nine hits in the game. Eathan Kazarian, the number eight hitter for Hartford Varsity Huskies, led the way with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Ryan Huminsky, EathanKazarian, and Wimbley each collected two hits for Hartford Varsity Huskies. Tim Wimbley, Mason Whitman, Calvin Wimbley, and Drake Sikes each stole multiple bases for Hartford Varsity Huskies. Hartford Varsity Huskies stole 11 bases in the game.
Hartford Varsity Huskies Breeze Past Lawrence Varsity Tigers in Game 2
Hartford Varsity Huskies easily dispatched Lawrence Varsity Tigers on Thursday, 12-2.
Hartford Varsity Huskies captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first after Tim Wimbley doubled to left field, Jose Perales singled down the left field line, and Eathan Kazarian grounded out, each scoring one run.
Hartford Varsity Huskies scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning. Aiden Sleeuwenhoek singled, scoring one run, Tim Wimbley singled, scoring one run, a steal of home scored one run, Ryan Huminsky doubled, scoring one run, and Elliott Spangler singled, scoring one run.
Hartford Varsity Huskies added one run in the third. Jose Perales lined out, making the score 9-2.
Calvin Wimbley earned the win for Hartford Varsity Huskies. The starter surrendered zero hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Hartford Varsity Huskies accumulated 13 hits in the game. Jose Perales, Ryan Huminsky, Eathan Kazarian, Elliott Spangler, and Tim Wimbley each collected two hits for Hartford Varsity Huskies. Elliott Spangler and Tim Wimbley each drove in two runs for Hartford Varsity Huskies. Aiden Sleeuwenhoek, Tim Wimbley, and Jameson Littlefield each stole multiple bases for Hartford Varsity Huskies.
Hartford Varsity Huskies ran wild on the base paths, amassing 14 stolen bases for the game. Hartford Varsity Huskies were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Elliott Spangler had the most chances in the field with nine.

High school taught me how to handle pressure, bounce back from mistakes, and keep going even when things didn’t go my way.   I’ve learned that setbacks don’t define me—how I respond to them does Playing sports with my sisters Don’t stress yourself out trying to make everything perfect. It’s okay not to have your whole life planned out yet. Focus on doing your best, meeting deadlines, and taking care of yourself. The future will come — you don’t have to have every answer right now. HMS Staff Spotlight (Week of 4/20/26):

Mrs. Triemstra is Hartford Middle Schools Social Studies. Her lessons are always well organized and interesting. She creates a classroom where everyone feels comfortable and welcomed.
She enjoys spending time with her family, playing soccer and reading. She makes learning enjoyable and engaging. Thank you Mrs. Triemstra for all you do.

Mrs. Johnson is Hartford Middle Schools 8th grade math teacher, and Life Skills teacher. She enjoys spending time with her grandkids and watching ball games. She takes the time to meet students where they are and help them grow academically. She brings consistency, encouragement, and care into her classroom by helping students build confidence in their math skills and everyday life skills. Thank you Mrs. Johnson for all you do.

MC is the Hartford Middle School and High School Choir teacher. They are very creative and has recently produced Mean Girls, The Musical. This helped both high school and middle school students find their talent on the stage. They encourage their students to try new things and help them along the way. The classroom is welcoming and inviting. Lessons are creative and give students a chance to sing and learn musical terms and lessons. Thank you MC for all you do.

For the first time in recent history, our high school Quiz Bowl team qualified for the state meet! This milestone is a testament to the team’s hard work, dedication, and passion for learning.
Traveling to Michigan State University on Saturday April 18th was Uriel Moreno-Aguilar, Jose Perales, Victoria Romero-Cordoso, Ava Mireles, Aubrey Ackerman, Melody Bennett, Weston Pitcher, and Aiden McDonald.
