This week, the Michigan Department of Education released the Supporting Summer Learning: Pandemic or Not, which provides guidance and resources to support K-12 students during this time of distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This document includes activities to help students transition to summer reading and access literacy enhancement activities that focus on literacy development. Students can complete math toolkits, social-emotional wellness videos, along with formal and informal learning opportunities for a variety of subjects ranging from English Language Arts to Career and Technical Education.
Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) supports students taking advantage of free, accessible learning activities that could help students with academic achievement and reduce summer learning loss. For more information on this topic, please visit the MDE Supporting Summer Learning webpage.
